Putin says Russia must react to reports of US cyberattacks

MOSCOW, Jun 20 (PRIME) -- Russia must react to any information on cyberattacks, regardless of it being real or fake, President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday during a Direct Line Q&A session.

“The modern world is very interconnected and interdependent, and we certainly heard of this article in the New York Times and saw the reaction of the president (Donald Trump) that they are traitors. I don’t see how it should be treated. Does it mean they disclosed existing real information? Was it bogus information? Anyway, we must react somehow and must understand what it means,” Putin said.

The New York Times earlier reported of Washington’s escalation of cyberattacks on Russian power grids, the fact which Trump denied and called the story an act of treason.
